We started making jewelry in 1990 by grinding shells and adding amethyst, turquoise, malachite, onyx and other stones to them, making earrings, bracelets, pendants, necklaces and watches. After that, we only expanded our offer with new designs and new types of materials.
We started modestly, as a couple of young students, doing everything with our own hands, creating and learning, dedicated to the job. Our business grew, expanded organically and contracted when we felt the need to focus on quality and focused presentation. We never wanted to lose personal contact in sales and production, and we tried to highlight our uniqueness and connection with the quality of the selection. Marketing and advertising are not for us, our strength is that we like jewelry to speak for itself and we rely on the power of quality and fair pricing. We continue to be thrilled to create something new and special and see the reactions of satisfied customers.
Over time, in addition to our own production, we began to design jewelry that is made for us all over the world. Why the name Sonora? Sonora is the name of the desert on the border of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico and is an area of spectacular natural scenery and home to the original Native Americans who traditionally make beautiful silver jewelry. Our fascination with the beauty of this jewelry, the story behind this special jewelry, and the desert landscape was the inspiration for our name. In addition, the first haliotis shells that we polished and processed came from Californian waters, so it was justified to name our initial production of shell jewelry in a city on the coast after – a desert. We love jewelry with a story, special and distinctive pieces, but we also offer jewelry for all tastes.
